THE GRAND DESIGN OF SEX AND HOW IT WORKS!
If you’ve been wondering what happens to you…well, I’m here to explain it to you! We doctors call it the Sexual Response Cycle (SRC), which is the sequence of physical and emotional changes that occur as a person becomes sexually aroused and participates in sexually stimulating activities, this includes intercourse and masturbation.
SRC has four phases namely: excitement, plateau, orgasm, and resolution.
Excitement phase characteristic includes but not limited to increased heart and breathing rate, increased blood flow to the penis or vagina, swelling of the penis or vaginal wall and clitoris etc. Plateau phase includes the intensification of all characteristics of the first phase and increasing of muscle tones until orgasm.
The orgasm (3rd phase) marks the climax of SRC and people do experience rapid breathing, muscle spasm, squirting, ejaculation, rhythmic contraction of muscles at the base of the penis/ vagina and uterus. The final phase (resolution) is the gradual restoration of the body function to the norm.
Also, this phase marks a general sense of well-being, enhanced intimacy and, often, fatigue. Some women are capable of a rapid return to the orgasm phase with further sexual stimulation and may experience multiple orgasms. Men need recovery time after orgasm, called a refractory period, during which they cannot reach orgasm again. So learn, to give the man some kind of short break for recovery.
Furthermore, the complete SRC determines human’s sexual gratification. A break in the SRC could lead to dissatisfaction with sexual activity especially in women who have sex without getting an orgasm.
